MULTAN, Jan 16: A girl residing in the hostel of Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur, was allegedly assaulted by an unidentified person last Saturday, sources said.

The sources said the victim, a resident of Iqbal Hall hostel, was sitting outside the study room on Saturday night at about 12 midnight when she was attacked.

The attacker tried to drag the girl towards nearby bushes but had to escape when the victim raised alarm and some fellow students reached to her rescue, they said.

On being informed of the incident, warden Samina Baddar and college Principal Dr Ajwad rushed to the spot where, after consoling the traumatised girl, they assured all students that hostel’s security would be tightened and number of guards increased from one to two.

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother has accused the college administration of negligence.

The sources said that despite the occurrence of such an incident the college administration took no extra measures for the security of the students

Some of the students alleged that they had spotted two men in women’s guise on the hostel premises on last Sunday.

The sources said some students had left the hostel for security concern.

Dr Ajwad was not available for comments despite various attempts to contact him, while the phone of the residence of Dr Samina Baddar went unattended.
