KARACHI, Jan 15: As many as 15,000 government employees have been imparted IT training in the province’s various cities and towns.
This was stated by the caretaker Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Jam Karam Ali, during a news conference here on Tuesday.
The minister said that 40 IT awareness centres had been established throughout the province.
He said that a hospital management information system project worth Rs137 billion had also been initiated at the Civil Hospital, Karachi.
Under this project, the major hospitals of Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana etc would also be linked, he said.
E-policing project
The caretaker minister said that an e-policing project would help enhance the efficiency of the police and help bring down the crime rate.
Chairing a high-level meeting regarding the e-policing project, he said that the police department’s performance could be further improved and a timely delivery of services to the public would be made possible by expediting the project.
IT Secretary Mohammad Zakir Qureshi briefed the minister on the e-policing project. The additional IG Sindh, Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui, informed the meeting that under the project computerisation of police offices was being carried out throughout the province.
He said that computer training courses for policemen would be started soon.
Mr Siddiqui said that under the e-policing project, Madadgar 15 call centres having strength of 100 men in Karachi and 15 more in Hyderabad and Sukkur regions would be established.
The minister was also briefed on the pace of work on other projects including vehicle management system, video conferencing, traffic management, inter-linking of driving licence branches across the province, and computerisation of prisons data and other departments.—Agencies
