MULTAN, April 5: A new digital telephone exchange of 6,000 lines has started functioning in the central exchange here on Thursday, a press release stated.
Installed in collaboration with China, the telecom facility would enable the Multan Telecom Region (MTR) to commission connections in no time especially in the walled city.
MTR acting General Manager Farooq Zia said the department would expand its internet coverage to some 26 more villages within its jurisdiction.
He maintained the MTR had provided internet facility through some 99 exchanges while it would expand it to all the digital exchanges by the year end.
The new areas are Ahmadpur Lamah, Allahaabad, Dharranwala, Daira Din Panah, Dhanot, Donga Bonga, Faqirwali, Fatehpur, Gaggu, Garah Morr, Jalla Jeem, Jeta Bota, Karampur, Khangarh, Khankah Sharif, Kitchiwala, Kot Samaba, Makhdoompur Pahorran, Mana Morr, Mandi Sadiq Ganj, Sanjarpur, Tibba Sultanpur, Tarinda Savai Khan and Uch Sharif.
