SIALKOT, April 5: The local district government is working on a comprehensive cyber project to establish an e-government through information technology, district Nazim Mian Naeem Javed told newsmen on Friday.
The Nazim said the district government would soon introduce official website, containing a complete record of all the government departments.
The e-government would save time in redressing the public grievances, he said, adding the process would purge the departments of corruption.
He maintained the cyber system would help bring good governance and improvement in every department. The IT professionals were busy feeding records especially Sialkot district’s revenue record since 1867.
People would get a computerized copy of their land property at Rs10 per copy without delay, he said.
Mr Javed said the Punjab governor was trying to convert Sialkot into a model district of information technology and work on the project would soon be started in harness with the business community.
REFERENDUM: The district government and business community have favoured the president’s call for referendum.
Talking to newsmen on Friday, officials said Gen Pervez Musharraf’s economic policies had steered the country out of the financial difficulties.
Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry Senior Vice-President Naveed Iqbal Shaikh corroborated the decision of referendum.
The present regime had brought exports on the right track, he claimed.
AMPUTATED: Some six armed men on Friday amputated arms of their rival in Pakkagarha locality.
Reports said Sher alias Kala and Shahid called their rival Aslam Ashraf, 37, at their dera for patch-up. On his arrival, they, along with their four accomplices, held up Ashraf, amputated his arms and escaped throwing him in fields.
Later, he was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The Muradpur police have registered a case with no arrest so far.
SHELLING: The Indian security forces on Friday continued shelling on Sialkot working boundary’s Chhumb, Joriyaan (Gujrat), Bajwat, Charwa, Bajragarhi, Harpal, Chaprar, Jammu, Sucheetgarh, Akhnoor, Saamba, Shakargarh and Narowal sectors, sources confirmed. No casualty has yet been reported.
