LAHORE, Jan 13: A constable of the Shadbagh police was suspended on Sunday on the complaint of an officer of a sensitive agency.
Reports said constable Zohaib Ashfaq was on patrol duty in Bhaggatpura on Saturday night when he stopped two motorcyclists for violating the pillion riding ban.
The man driving the bike introduced himself to the constable as an officer of an agency but the constable asked him to abide by the law. This reportedly led to an exchange of harsh words between the two.
Later, the official reportedly brought the matter to the notice of Ravi Town division SP Dr Raja Abid who immediately suspended the constable and ordered an inquiry against him.
Unconfirmed reports said the constable took the official to the police station after the exchange of harsh words.
The official by the time contacted his colleagues and subordinates by his cell phone.
Within a few minutes dozens of personnel reached the police station and thrashed the constable and other policemen present there, including SHO Riaz Abbas.
