HYDERABAD, April 5: A research scholar Gobind M. Herani has suggested that land reforms and micro financing system should be introduced and activities of NGOs should be encouraged in Tharparkar.

He was speaking during his presentation on his PhD seminar on “an agricultural based industry of Tharparkar and barrage areas of Sindh- suggested techniques leading to an industrial economy” here on Friday.

He suggested that Kandi (propose ginerasia) and Bair (acura psedotomentosa) planting should be encouraged, tube-wells and hand-pumps should be installed and dams and small water reservoirs should be constructed to conserve water in Tharparkar District.

He also suggested that the agriculture-livestock based industry should be promoted to boost their export, market for livestock should be explored and recommendations of Sazda for under ground water should be implemented.

Mr Herani said that through his research he collected facts and figures on the existing conditions of agriculture-based industry in district Tharparkar.

He said that in his study he evaluated the performance of government and NGOs in Thar and barrage area of Sindh and determined the growth rate of development.

He said that through the research he had underlined the need for the development of agriculture- based industry.

He said that the agriculture-based industry as sub- sector played an important role in economy of any country and provided an increasing number of jobs in both rural and urban areas.

He said that in our country the planners and policy makers faced difficulties due to lack of accurate data.
