Power company’s board meets

LAHORE, Jan 11: The first meeting of the board of directors of the Neelum-Jhelum Hydroelectric Company held here at Wapda House on Friday.

Wapda/board chairman Shakil Durrani presided over the meeting, which was also attended by several other officials.

The board, reviewing progress on the project, directed the authorities concerned to keep a close liaison with the government of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) for timely acquisition of land for the project. It was decided at the meeting that foolproof security would be ensured in the project area.

Briefing the meeting about work on the project, the NJHEP general manager said construction work on the project would begin shortly as a Rs90.9 billion agreement had already been signed with two Chinese firms in this regard.

Earlier, the board unanimously elected Durrani its chairman.
