Muharram arrangements discussed

LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 11: A meeting on Friday discussed the law and order situation and arrangements for Muharram in the district.

The meeting was presided over by District Coordination Officer Amer Latif and attended by the representatives of several departments. Implementation of security plan, provision of municipal and health services, coordination between elders of different school of thoughts and other relevant matters came under discussion.

The meeting reviewed the security plan prepared by the district police administration. Officials of the civil defence were directed to assist police on the 9th and 10th of Muharram.

The meeting was informed that the City Hospital would ensure availability of ambulance and staff round the clock during the holy month.

The representative of the tehsil municipal administration was directed to make arrangements for the provision of clean water, cleanliness of roads, and installation of streetlights on the routes of Muharram processions.

The Pesco representative was directed to make efforts for minimising loadshedding of electricity during Muharram.

The DCO stressed the need for inter-faith harmony during the holy month.
