MIRPURKHAS: Nazim raids Utility Store

MIRPURKHAS, Jan 11: District Naib Nazim Dr Zafar Ahmed Kamali has raided a Utility Store in UC-3, in Mirpurkhas city, after receiving reports of overcharging and complaints that people were asked to buy extra things to purchase oil and flour from the store.

The naib nazim paid a surprise visit to the Utility Store. He called in the area manager of Utility Stores of Mirpurkhas and get registered the public complaints and directed the manager to cancel the licence of the Utility Store.

He told the people who were present there that on behalf of Mirpurkhas district government five flour centre at Mirpurkhas and one at Kot Ghulam Mohammad had been set up where wheat flour was available at government fixed rate of Rs16 per kg.

He said surprise raids would be conducted to curtail hoarding of flour and profiteering in the district.

He asked the people to point out the hoarders and profiteers so that action could be taken against them.

Our Nawabshah correspondent adds: The activists of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf staged a protest on Sanghar road against an acute shortage of wheat flour here on Friday.

They were carrying placards and raising slogans: “Musharraf atta, warna taa taa”.

Provincial joint secretary of the party Qazi Nadeem, Shoukat Ali, Nasir Khan, Sajid Khan and others said on the occasion that there was a shortage of flour at Utility Stores and the commodity was being sold at Rs28-30 in open market.

They said their families were starving as they could not afford the commodity at such exorbitant rates and even if they buy flour, they have no money for other items.

They threatened to further their protest, if the government did not solve the problem.
