KARAK, Jan 10: A former MNA and independent candidate for PF-40, Mian Nisar Gul, on Thursday accused the district government of violating the code of conduct for elections by involving itself in pre-poll rigging.
He called upon the election commission to restrain district nazim Rehmat Salam from violating the code of conduct to ensure free and fair polls on Feb 18.
Addressing workers’ conventions in Sabirabad, Town Hall and Banda Daud Shah, he gave a week to the district nazim to refrain from taking part in the campaign of any candidate. Otherwise, he said, his supporters would come out on the streets against unlawful acts of the nazim. He said if the nazim was so keen to do public service he should first complete the construction of the Karak-Sabirabad road. He said the road was under construction for three and a half years causing inconvenience to people of the area.
Mr Gul said he believed in politics of decency but alleged that his rival Fareed Tofan was using dirty language against him.
He termed the killing of PPP leader Benazir Bhutto a great national loss, but said that with the postponement of election his campaign had not been affected.
