MIRPURKHAS, Jan 8: The Circle incharge of Anti-corruption Establishment (ACE) Mirpurkhas, Mohammad Ayub Patoli, has summoned the headmistress and headmasters of different primary schools of the district to record their statements in the inquiry regarding alleged misappropriation of Rs37.5 million in education department during 2002 and 2004.

The Circle incharge told this correspondent that an inquiry conducted into the embezzlement complaints in funds of school management committee (SMC) and education sector reforms (ESR) revealed bungling of Rs37.5 million

He added that he furnished the preliminary inquiry report to director ACE and sought an audit of these funds. He said that Abdul Mannan Khanzada, a senior audit officer, conducted the audit and disclosed that millions of rupees were released in the name of a school to purchase furniture, which could not be found on the site after physical verification.

He said that he had recorded the statements of heads of girls and boys high schools, in which they revealed that they were not provided furniture during that period.
