KARACHI, April 4: Keeping in view the arrival of spring and that it is the prime breeding season for mosquitoes and other insects, the health department of the city government will soon start spraying insecticide and channelize drains all over the city from next week.

According to details, Vector Control and Fumigation of the city government health department will launch its insecticide spray schedule from Saddar Town.

During the drive, all large drains in the 18 Towns of Karachi will be channelized to flow-off accumulated water and insecticide will be sprayed at spots where the larvae of mosquitoes and other insects breed, in an effort to eliminate them.

The department will spray insecticides on April 8 and 9 in Saddar Town, followed by Jamshed Town on April 10 and 11.

Insecticide will be sprayed in Lyari Town on April 12, 13 and 14.

From April 16 to 20, spray work will be carried out in Gulberg, North Nazimabad and Liaquatabad towns.

North Karachi Town will follow on April 22 and 23, followed by Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town and some parts of Jamshed Town.

Insecticide spraying in Landhi and Korangi towns will be carried out on April 27 and 28, and Malir Town on the 30th.

Shah Faisal Town will receive insecticide spraying on May 1 and 2, followed by Bin Qasim and Gadap towns on May 3, 4 and 5.

Site, Keamari, Baldia and Orangi towns will be covered in five days, starting from May 7 to 11.—PPI
