PESHAWAR, Jan 6: The Frontier chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party demanded of the United Nations on Sunday to constitute an international inquiry team on the pattern of the Hariri Commission to investigate the assassination of Banazir Bhutto.

The demand was made in a resolution passed by a joint meeting of the PPP provincial office-bearers, Women’s Wing, People’s Youth Organisation, People’s Students Federation, People’s Labour Bureau and People’s Lawyers Forum, held at the residence of PPP provincial chief Rahimdad Khan.

The meeting reviewed the fallout from the assassination of Ms Bhutto and held the government responsible for the tragedy.

Through another resolution, the meeting reposed full confidence in the leadership of party Chairman Bilwal Bhutto Zardari, Co-Cairman Asif Ali Zardari and Makhdoom Amin Fahim and endorsed all decisions taken by the party’s Central Executive Committee in Naudero.

The meeting demanded of the government to end hours-long load-shedding and ensure availability of flour in all markets.

The meeting thanked journalists affiliated with the print and electronic media for their coverage of PPP protest rallies across the country after the tragic assassination of Ms Bhutto.

The meeting was attended by Najmuddin Khan, Zulfikar Ahmed Afghani, Ghani Gul Khan Mehsud, Barrister Masood Kausar, Fasial Karim Kundi, Behramand Khan Tangi, Zulqarnain, Ejaz Yusufzai, Begum Mehrunnisa Afridi, Waris Khan Afridi, Nasim Raza, Qaiser Afridi, Ehsanullah Khan, Dr Nisar and Tila Mohammad.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rahimdad Khan said that after the untimely death of Ms Bhutto it was the duty of her all followers to work for the unity of the people.

He said it would be a tribute to Ms Bhutto to work for the restoration of true democracy in the country.

He said that Ms Bhutto had sacrificed her life for the integrity and solidarity of the country and now it was the duty of all PPP supporters to avenge her death by defeating the pro-dictatorship lobby in upcoming elections.

He eulogised services of Bashir Khan Tangi advocate and other party activists killed in the Liaquat Bagh incident on Dec 27.
