Atif steers team to victory

LAHORE, Jan 4: A last-minute goal by three-goal Atif Tiwana propelled Subway into the final of the Polo Cup defeating Rangers 5-4 ½ after a thrilling match on Friday.

The match started on a fast note as five goals were scored in the first chukker. Atif hit two while Agha Murtaza Ali Khan one as the winners came out with a slim lead of 3- 2 1/2. For the losers, who had half-goal handicap, Umar Sadik and Asif Zahoor fired one goal each.

Subway, further increased the lead to 4- 2 1/2, scoring the solitary goal of the second chukker through Hasim Kamal Agha. Rangers, however, threatened the rivals, taking command with two goals (4- 4 1/2) with two goals, one each in the third and the fourth chukker through Amanat Ali, before Atif banged home the decisive one.
