HYDERABAD, Oct 22: Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Monday recorded the statements of two suspended and arrested police officials, SIP Habibullah Chand and ASI Aijaz Deeshak, in two criminal cases lodged against them earlier.

The two police officials were produced before the court of judicial magistrate-I, Fida Hussain Mughal where the statements of two court officials were recorded.

A reader of 4th additional district judge, Ghulam Ali, and Naib Qasid, Shaukat Ali, deposed before the court in presence of the two police officials.

The remand of two police officials would expire on Tuesday.

Both the accused have also been shown arrested in two criminal cases lodged vide crime nos 22 and 23. Earlier they were absconding in both the cases.

ACE DSP Malik Mulazim Hussain also recorded his statement.

Meanwhile, the Cantonment police has added newly introduced section 6(M) of the amended Anti Terrorism Act to the charges against the two police officials.

Earlier the police did not lodge the case under any provisions of ATA deliberately neither the police officials were held responsible for police encounter.

The new section deals with the cases of causing harassment during the discharge of official duty and the punishment under this offence is not less than five years.

The two police officials were arrested by the City police on Friday last after they tried to flee from the sessions court after resorting to firing in the courtroom of 4th Additional District Judge Abdul Rasool Memon.

The Special Judge Anti Corruption (provincial) Ali Ashraf Shah had rejected their bail before arrest application after which they resorted to firing to avoid arrest.

A fresh case of forgery would be lodged against the two police officials after it was approved by anti-corruption committee-I headed by Sindh chief secretary.

The two officials were accused of keeping a transporter Ashraf in illegal detention and releasing him after getting bribe.

When a trap was arranged to arrest them, the police officials tried to hit civil judge Asif Soomro and ACE officials with their private car outside a hotel where they had received the bribe from Ashraf.

ARRESTED: Circle officer of Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) City, Dharamdas is said to have arrested two officials of District Council Hyderabad including former chief officer Mohammad Hussain Gahu in an embezzlement case on Monday.

They were arrested near the sessions court.

Gahu has recently served as administrator of Mirpurkhas municipal committee.

The other accused Ishaque Memon who has been retired after serving as accounts officer in the district council, was also arrested.

A case of embezzlement of Rs3,80,000 was pending against them.

The case was lodged following approval from Anti- Corruption Committee-I.

The charge sheet was presented in court which issued warrants for their arrest.
