CD centre blown up in Kohat

Published January 3, 2008

KOHAT, Jan 2: Unknown militants blew up a CD centre at the old bus stand in Kohat city late Tuesday night, police said.

The bomb was planted inside the shop which exploded with a huge bang around 9.25 pm.

Police sources said it had been a time device which completely destroyed the Shabana music centre besides causing damage to at least four adjoining shops.

Fire tenders and bomb disposal squad reached the scene and secured the whole area.

Last year 28 bombing incidents took place. These include two suicide bombings – one targeting a mosque and the other targeting a military recruitment centre. Thirty-two people were killed and more than 54 seriously injured in the bombings.

The Kohat bomb disposal squad defused 22 bombs and rockets in tribal Darra Adamkhel, Kohat, and Hangu districts during 2007.
