ISLAMABAD, Jan 1: Prince Charles of Britain has offered condolences to the family of Benazir Bhutto.

In a message to Asif Ali Zardari sent through the British High Commission in Karachi on Monday, Prince Charles said he and his wife had been deeply shocked and saddened by the news of Ms Bhutto’s untimely death.

“This tragedy underlines the extraordinary threat we all face from extremism and terrorism. But we hope it will also show the world Pakistan’s resilience as she comes to terms with the terrible tragedy,” he said. “We pray with all our hearts that Ms Bhutto’s memory will be honoured by a determination to pursue democracy and stability to which she was so strongly committed.

Our Larkana correspondent adds: Nepal’s Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Foreign Minister Sahana Pradhan and Pakistan’s Caretaker Foreign Minister Inamul Haq sent letters to Asif Ali Zardari at Naudero House and offered their condolences, PPP spokesman said.
