PESHAWAR, Dec 31: Saleem Abbas of Wapda and Shabnam Bilal of Habib Bank won men’s and women’s singles finals in the 45th National table tennis championship at the PSB Coaching Centre here on Monday.

Saleem, 36, overcame Punjab’s Rafique Sarhadi in straight sets.

In women’s singles final, Shabnam stunned current national champion Ghalia Khursheed of the same department in straight sets.

Men’s and women’s doubles, along with mixed doubles were called off due to the death of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

The organisers have decided to hold the events during forthcoming table tennis series between Pakistan and Afghanistan in February.
