SIALKOT, Dec 31: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) activists are satisfied over the appointment of Bilawal Bhutto as the new PPP chairman and hope that he will continue his family’s ancestral struggle for establishing the sustainable democracy in the country.
Addressing a condolence reference for the late Benazir Bhutto on Monday, women workers and leaders called Bilawal a rising sun of the PPP who would try to make the PPP the most popular party.
PPP Sialkot leader Dr Fardous Ashiq Awan said that Benazir was a hope for success and courage for women politicians. She said the late Bhutto sacrificed her life while battling against dictators following in the footsteps of her father Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
She said the heart of every woman in the world was sad over the tragic demise of Benazir. Dr Awan said the death of Benazir had left a big political gap which would never be filled. She said that Benazir’s assassination showed that no one was safe in the country.
Begum Akram Hayyat Malik paid rich tributes to the late Benazir and alleged that the rulers were trying to cover up the facts regarding the assassination of the Bhutto.
The city returned to normalcy on Monday after being under the pall of gloom for the last four days. All bazaars and business centres resumed their routine in Sialkot. District Coordination Officer Capt (retd) Atta Muhammad Khan said that no untoward incident was reported during the mourning period.
