Altaf offers condolences to Zardari

KARACHI, Dec 31: Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Altaf Hussain called Pakistan People’s Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and offered condolences on the tragic death of Benazir Bhutto.

A press release of MQM issued on Monday said that Mr Hussain described the death of Ms Bhutto a national loss.

He said that he and every worker of the MQM had been saddened by this incident.

Mr Hussain asked Mr Zardari to convey his condolences to Bilawal, Bakhtawar and Aseefa and other members of the family.

He said that in the past through conspiracies “we were pitted against each other but now we understand this”.

He said time had come to recognise such elements and work jointly for betterment of the Sindh province and the country.

Mr Zardari thanked Mr Hussain for offering condolences and agreed that misunderstandings had been created in the past, and that “we will work together for the betterment of the province and the country”.
