ISLAMABAD, Dec 29: President Pervez Musharraf on

Saturday ordered a crackdown against elements involved in incidents of looting and torching of public and private properties in the guise of protests, and directed authorities to take action against them under the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Co-chairing a high-level meeting with caretaker Prime Minister Mohammedmian Soomro, the president said that while the entire nation was in deep mourning over the death of Ms Bhutto and its sympathies were with the Bhutto family and the leadership and workers of the Pakistan People’s Party in their hour of grief, some anti-social elements, taking advantage of the situation, had started looting and damaging the property of innocent people and the government. These elements, he said, would be dealt with firmly.
