SAHIWAL, Dec 29: Four people were injured when some PML-Q activists shot at a joint procession mourning the death of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto here on Saturday.

Reports said scores of activists of the PPP and the PML-N gathered at Liaquat Chowk to vent anger against the assassination of the PPP chairperson when some PML-Q men fired at the procession from the rooftop of the camp office of Chaudhry Naurez Shakoor, a candidate for NA-160.

Ghulam Qadir, Mian Anwar, Shahzad Ali and Mujahid Husain were injured. The police, however, arrested two of the PML-Q assailants, Imran Butt and Arshad Butt. Soon afterwards, the participants started pelting the building with stones but no casualty was reported.

Most of the markets, business centres and petrol pumps remained closed for the third consecutive day in Sahiwal, Harappa, Noorshah, Kassowal, Qadirabad, Shaziabad and Kamir. At some places, funeral prayers were offered for the late Benazir Bhutto.
