ISLAMABAD, Dec 27: The federal and provincial governments on Thursday announced that all educational institutions in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will remain closed for an indefinite period due to agitations in the aftermath of Ms Bhutto’s assassination.

The decision would not be applicable on private educational institutions but it is expected that they too will remain closed for the next few days.

Some of the private schools have already announced winter vacations due to Eid and Christmas, and they are still closed.

MARRIAGES POSTPONED: Most of the marriages scheduled to be held on Thursday in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad were postponed due to protest and agitation by the workers and lovers of the PPP leader.

It was observed that a large number of marriage halls and hotels located on Murree Road were closed down, as angry people staged demonstrations against Ms Bhutto’s assassination.

Some of the families postponed wedding functions while mourning the tragic killing of Ms Bhutto, while others took the decision due to security concerns.

APP adds: All the banks, government and private educational institutions and the businesses and commercial centres would remain closed for three days throughout the country, “with immediate effect.”

This was announced by Ministry of Interior in a press release issued here Thursday.
