LAHORE, Dec 26: District Nazim Mian Amer Mehmmood has said that there is no plan to cut trees for the widening of Canal Bank Road.

Talking to Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry president-elect Muhammad Ali Mian during a visit to his residence here on Wednesday for congratulating him on his election, he said the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) was all set to widen Canal Bank Road for ensuring signal-free traffic movement from Wagah Border to Motorway.

A number of NGOs were raising a hue and cry about the felling of trees which was not a part of the plan. The trees would only be shifted a few feet away from their existing positions by using heavy machinery to facilitate the road widening. — Reporter
