SWABI, Dec 25: Leaders of various political parties have called upon the Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) to stop prolong loadshedding, which they said had created various problems for them.
Talking to this correspondent on Tuesday, a former district nazim said he lived close to the Tarbela Dam, the main source of hydro-electricity, but his area remained without electricity for hours.
A former provincial general secretary of the Awami National Party, Salim Khan, said it was unjustifiable that electricity generated from the Tarbela Dam was being provided to Faisalabad and other industrial zones of Punjab but local people were facing shortage of electricity.
A PML-N candidate for the PF-31, (Swabi-1) said that irregular power supply had badly affected electioneering in the district. He urged the government to bring an end to unscheduled loadshedding. Haji Zar Shed Khan, the ANP’s candidate from the same constituency, said during his election campaign people demanded an end to loadshedding.
Javid Inqalabi, the former president of the people’s lawyer forum, said the continuous loadshedding would force the people to stage a demonstration against Pesco. He said patients and students were the most affected groups of population.
