QUETTA, Dec 19: Two pro-government Bugti tribesmen were killed and five injured, three of them seriously, when a vehicle was blown up with a remote-control bomb in Bekar area, some 122km from Dera Bugti town, on Wednesday.

District Police Officer Najam Tareen confirmed on telephone that the assailants had used a remote-control bomb to blow up the vehicle.

Their main target was Wadera Ali Mohammad Masoori Bugti, the father of Mir Tariq Hussain Masoori Bugti, a candidate for the BP-24 Dera Bugti seat. However, Mir Tariq’s father survived the attack and two cousins were killed.

According to police sources, Wadera Ali Mohammad was going to Barkhan on his pick-up.

The explosion destroyed the pick-up and Fateh Mohammad and Wahid Bakhsh died on the spot.

The five injured were identified as Mohammad Nawaz, Bengo, Sanjar, Eido and Izat.

Police and personnel from other law-enforcement agencies rushed to the place, removed the bodies and took the injured to hospital. The security forces launched a search operation in the area.
