KARACHI: Gang of women robbers busted

KARACHI, Dec 19: Police busted a gang of robbers and arrested six women members, including the ringleader, allegedly involved in robberies in posh areas of the city on Wednesday.

On the directives of SPO New Town Nawaz Ranjhani, a special party led by Sub-inspectors Shafqat Ali Mayo and Mohammad Zubair conducted a raid and busted the 70-member gang involved in robberies in bungalows of posh localities.

Police arrested ringleader Mukhtaran Begum alias Mukki, and on her information they picked up Sharifa alias Shefi, Salma, Sana, Sumaira alias Boti and Sarwari alias Sarwar.

According to the police, the women used to get jobs as maids in bungalows and flats and then commit dacoities. Mukhtaran was a proclaimed offender and a case 122/05 against her had been registered at Sharea Faisal police station. Cases were registered against others as well at Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Mubina Town, Gulistan-i-Jauhar, Sharea Faisal and New Town police stations.

Police have been conducting raids to arrest other suspects.—PPI
