NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Dec 18: Pakistan People’s Party leader and former MPA, Syed Aftab Ali Shah, said on Tuesday that he would contest the election for PS-21 Naushahro Feroz as an independent candidate.
Talking to journalists in Kandiaro, he said that he had applied for the PPP ticket for PS-21 but due to the ‘briefcase’ culture and the influence of Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Syed Zafar Ali Shah, the ticket was awarded to Dr Ahmed Ali Shah, the brother of Zafar Ali Shah.
He said that Dr Ahmed Ali Shah was a new entrant in politics.
He said that he would contest the election for PS-21 as an independent candidate and after ‘winning the election’, would go to the party chairperson and submit his resignation from the seat.
Syed Aftab Ali Shah, who came in to the fold of PPP in 1969, abandoned the party in 1986 to join the PML led by Nawaz Sharif. He was elected as MPA in 1990 on PML ticket and became an adviser to the then chief minister of Sindh. He abandoned the PML 1993 only to rejoin PPP.
