DADU, Dec 17: A man was killed and another suffered injuries when a watchman opened fire on them near the shrine of Baba Salahuddin in Kotri town late on Sunday night.

Latif Shoro, 20, of Jan Mohammad Shoro village was shot dead and his friend Arshad Shoro of Qadan Shoro village was injured. Police moved the body and the injured to Kotri Taluka Hospital.

Arshad Shoro claimed that the watchman opened fire on them when they were returning home after attending a marriage party while the watchman Rahmatullah Khaskheli insisted he opened fire in self defence after Latif Shoro and his three accomplices who was stealing a transformer fired on him when he demanded that they prove their identity.

Our Hyderabad correspondent adds: Hundreds of residents of Arbab Jan Mohammad Shoro blocked the Kotri Bridge from both sides on Monday in protest over killing of Latif Shoro by the watchman of a Public Health Scheme in Kotri taluka late Sunday night.

They raised slogans against police and watchman. Barkat had allegedly killed Latif Shoro on the ground that they were trying to steal the transformer of Health Scheme. He has lodged a case with Kotri police that one of their accomplices fled while Irshad Shoro was arrested.
