Prosecution dept asked to help courts

LAHORE, Dec 15: Caretaker Chief Minister Justice Ejaz Nisar (retired) on Saturday directed the prosecution department to extend all-out assistance to courts for the provision of justice to people.

The department should play its due role in pursuing the cases in courts, provision of relief to people and ensuring punishment to criminals, Justice Nisar said while speaking at a briefing. He said the government was promoting departments related to law and dispensation of justice on a priority basis so that problems of people could be solved.

He said the prosecution department was helping people get their judicial problems solved, and was ensuring punishment to offenders. The government was attaching top priority to the eradication of crime and provision of justice to people.

Nisar said ‘talented and efficient’ lawyers had been appointed prosecutors in the province and they were doing their duty responsibly.

Prosecutor General Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmad said 10,000 cases had been disposed off during the last one year through the prosecution department. He said the department had instructed the police about registration of cases, their investigation and submission of challans to courts. —Staff Reporter
