BAHAWALPUR, Dec 15: PML-Q local cadre stands divided over the issue of ticket allotment in PP-276 (Yazman).

Former MPA Shoaib Karim had filed his nomination papers from the constituency, along with former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, who had filed papers from NA-187. But, now PML-Q has issued the ticket to Chaudhry Mahboob Nasir, a former president of Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce. The decision has disappointed many a local leader of the party.

The change is said to be made at the behest of district nazim Tariq Cheema.

Shoaib Karim was elected to provincial assembly seat in 2002 on PPP ticket. He along with MPA Dr Muhammad Afzal had resigned from the PPP. He was re-elected on PML-Q ticket in the by-election.
