SWAT: Withdrawals in Swat

SWAT, Dec 15: Candidates nominated by Jamaat-i-Islami from various constituencies of national and provincial assembly in Swat district withdrew their nomination papers here on Saturday.

Former provincial minister Hussain Ahmad Kanju and covering candidate Ibrahim Shah pulled out of the race for the NA-29, Swat-I, while from the constituency of NA-30, Swat-II, former MNA Maulana Fazal Subhan and covering candidate Muzaffar Khan withdrew their nominations in line with the party’s decision to boycott the elections.

Former MPA and a candidate for PF-80 Mohammad Amin, Riaz Ahmad for PF-81, Rafiullah for PF-82 and Mohammad Shoaib for PF-86 also withdrew their papers.

Malik Fida Khan advocate, who was a candidate of PPP-S for PF-80, withdrew his nominations on the call of the lawyers’ community.

Meanwhile, a candidate of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (Fazl) for NA-29 and former MNA, Qari Abdul Bais Siddiqui announced his withdrawal from in favour of Maulana Siddiq Ahmad, who had submitted his nomination as an independent candidate but later joined the JUI-F.
