KARACHI, Dec 15: Five ships carrying containers, edible oil and furnace oil were accommodated berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Saturday.

Meanwhile, five more ships with containers, chemicals, furnace oil, wheat and coal also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy stood at 70 per cent as eight ships, Sima Pride, Maersk Novazzano, Al-Mariyah, Bernice, Gemini, C-Felix, Archangelos-R and Seattle Trader, were busy in loading and unloading containers, cement, edible oil, furnace oil and iron ore.

A cargo volume of 105,000 tons comprising 74,000 tons of import and 31,000 tons of export tonnage was handled.

Al-Mariyah and Sima Pride left the port while Maersk Novazzano and C-Felix were expected to depart on Saturday.
