KARACHI, Dec 12: Prominent women shuttlers of the country are set to vie for honours in the All Pakistan women’s badminton championship which runs at the Karachi Club from Dec 14 to 17, organisers announced at a press briefing on Wednesday.

According to details, hosts National Bank, Wapda, Railways, Sindh and Punjab have confirmed their participation in the event which carries a total purse of Rs50,000.

In addition to prize money, the sponsors have set aside an amount of Rs200,000 for shuttle cocks, boarding and lodging trophies and other expenses.

Events to be held during the four-day contest are singles, doubles and team events.

The sponsors boast to have a formidable women’s team having reigning national champion Ayesha Ikram, No 2 Sara Khan and No 4 Sara Mohmand in their ranks.

Wapda are the reigning national women’s team event champions.

Meanwhile, secretary Sindh Badminton Association Saleem Paracha has named a five-member team for the event which consists of Aimen Khan, Mahrukh Essa, Monisha Kotia, Amna Khan and Asma Mumtaz.
