KOHAT, Dec 12: A senior official of the Commissionerate of Afghan Refugees (CAR) and six other people went missing on the Indus Highway while going to Karak.

Ibraheem Khattak, who had served twice as the Kohat administrator, was on way to Karak from Peshawar on Tuesday with the six people in two vehicles when they were kidnapped, sources said. Mr Khattak’s family requested Kohat Frontier Region Political Agent Kamran Zeb to check whether he had been kidnapped in Darra Adamkhel.

A search was carried out in the area on the orders of the political agent but no clue to the where abouts of the missing people was found. Officials said they had informed the district administrations of Peshawar, Kohat and Karak about the incident.

They expressed apprehension that the victims might had been kidnapped outside Peshawar and taken to Bara in Khyber Agency.

The authorities have launched a massive hunt to locate the missing people and their vehicles in the tribal area. The family of the victims has not received any demand for ransom.
