HYDERABAD, Dec 12: The Pakistan Muslim League candidate for NA-220 Hyderabad, Sahibzada Shabbir Hassan Ansari, has urged for dissolution of local bodies to ensure free, fair and transparent elections in the country.

In a statement faxed to Dawn on Wednesday, he claimed that UC nazims and councillors were canvassing for their own party candidates.

He said that the entire polling exercise would be rendered futile if the interference of nazims and councillors in the electioneering process was not stopped.

BOYCOTT: Doctors and paramedical staff of the Liaquat University Hospital here on Wednesday boycotted the OPD and other wards for an hour to protest against an armed attack at the residence of the medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Waseem Shaikh.

Earlier, the hospital employees held a meeting and formed a joint-action committee to check violence in the hospital.

Later, they took out a procession which terminated at the OPD.They threatened to continue their protest if the culprits were not arrested.—Bureau
