KARACHI, Dec 11: The Anti-Car Lifting Unit arrested six alleged members of two gangs and recovered nine snatched vehicles from their possessions, SSP Khurram Waris told a press conference on Tuesday.

He said that two different teams of the ACLU conducted operations on receiving timely information from a vehicles’ tracking company.

“Led by SHO Malik Ashraf and Sub-inspector Abdul

Qadir Rind, a raiding party intercepted a gang on Korangi Road near Akhtar Colony,” he said.

They arrested Amanullah Mazari alias Dr Mazari and Parial and recovered a snat-

ched 1000-CC car and two pistols from their possession, he added.

The SSP said further investigation helped recovering six more cars snatched on gunpoint from different areas of the city. The accused had been planning to move the cars to Balochistan. However, they were arrested before they could transport them.

“Another gang of car lifters, which was under vigilance for a few days, was busted on Hub River Road,” he added.

“We nabbed Imran, Mohamamd Hussain, Mohammad Fayyaz and Muhammad Javed before they could shift some latest model cars to an unknown place,” he said, adding that the vehicles had been stolen or snatched from different parts of the metropolis.

Pointing out that the gangs were well organised and highly professional, he said that the police expected significant leads in the course of further investigations.
