KARACHI, Dec 10: As many as 30 vehicles were handed over to the Muhafiz Force at a ceremony held at the Central Police Office on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, the inspector-general of police, Sindh, Ziaul Hassan Khan, said that the addition of these vehicles to the existing fleet of the force would help combat crime more effectively.

He said that the handing over of these vehicles to the force launched by the Sindh governor was part of a wider security plan for the province.

The police official thanked the Sindh government for the provision of these vehicles.

He said that 50 more vehicles would also be provided to the force and gradually the strength of the fleet would reach 200.

Mr Hassan said that the Muhafiz Force had also patrols in Hyderabad and Sukkur and their patrolling would soon be extended to other parts of the province. The IGP urged the policemen to play their role of the protectors of the masses. He said that the police force was ready to perform its duty honestly during the upcoming elections. DIG Training and Inspection Zubair Mehmood also spoke on the occasion. A contingent of Muhafiz Force presented a guard of honour.

Additional IG Special Branch Babar Khatak, DIG Zone South Karachi Javed Bukhari, DIG Headquarters Waseem Bukhari, DIG Traffic Wajid Durrani, DIG West Falak Sher, DIG Special Branch Syed Zakir Hussain, DIG Sindh Reserve Police Ghulam Asghar Sheikh and other senior police officers were also present.—PPI
