O’Brien to return home

Published December 9, 2007

MELBOURNE, Dec 8: New Zealand seam bowler Iain O’Brien will return home from his side’s short tour of Australia, the New Zealand Cricket (NZC) said in a statement on Saturday.

O’Brien will be available for his Wellington provincial side for their match against Central Districts on Monday.

No reason was given for O’Brien’s return to New Zealand and he will now miss the Twenty20 international against Australia and the three-match Chappell-Hadlee one-day series.

O’Brien, who played in the two-Test series loss to South Africa, conceded 52 runs in just four overs against a Cricket Australia Chairman’s XI on Friday. New Zealand lost the match by seven runs.—Reuters
