International Volunteer Day observed

KARAK Dec 5: The International Volunteer Day (IVD) was observed here on Wednesday under the aegis of the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD).

A ceremony was held at the office of a local organisation, Yarran, at Takht-i-Nusrati in which nazims, councillors, volunteers, heads of government departments and people belonging to all walks of life participated. The nazim of the Takht-i-Nusrati tehsil council, Gul Rauf, was the chief guest on this occasion.

While addressing the participants, Gul Rauf appreciated the contributions made by the volunteers of NCHD in health, education and capacity building and extended every sort of support to the NCHD on behalf of the tehsil government.

He urged on the NCHD volunteers to motivate the communities for mobilising local resources for the district development and building the capacity of the communities.The tehsil nazim informed that the volunteerism brings benefits to both society at large and the individual volunteer and it also makes important contributions to the communities economically and socially as well.

He added that it contributes to a more cohesive society by building trust and reciprocity among citizens and also inculcate positive values of tradition to humanity and integration.

He informed that NCHD volunteers has remarkably contributed in enhancing the enrolment ratio to bring maximum students back to schools.
