HYDERABAD, Dec 2: The DPO Hyderabad here on Sunday suspended an ASI and four traffic police constables and called for sending them to quarter guard for their failure to maintain free flow traffic at Hyder Bux Jatoi roundabout.

The step follows a notice taken by District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil of the chaotic traffic conditions in the city.

He also asked the acting DPO to look into the matter and thereafter the DPO personally visited the Hyder Bux Jatoi roundabout to regulate the flow of traffic.

Jamil told Dawn that he will also be holding a meeting on traffic issue on Monday in his office with the taluka nazim city and other TMA officials.

He said that he had also asked the taluka nazim to remove encroachments alongside main arteries of the city.

The nazim said that he had also spoke to those UC nazims who were part of the committee, formed to handle traffic flow in areas where development, especially drainage and sewerage, works were in progress.

However, till filing of this report ASI Allah Warayo and the four policemen were not sent to quarter guard.

KILLED: A seven-year-old boy and his uncle were crushed to death by a speedy Karachi-bound van on Qasimabad bypass here on Sunday.The deceased were identified as Arbaz, 7, and his uncle Rafiq.

Another man, Akhtar, was injured in the incident.

The driver of the van, Rafiq has been arrested and vehicle impounded by Qasimabad police.
