LAHORE, Dec 1: Civil Judge, Lahore, Gulzar Ahmed has issued a stay-order against the holding of the emergent general council meeting of the Punjab Olympic Association (POA), which was to be held here on Monday.

In his order the learned judge told POA’s president Syed Shahid Ali and secretary Khawaja Idrees Haider to appear before him on Dec 12 for a further hearing.

Issued on the request of Pervez Shah Khawar, secretary Punjab Baseball Association, the order states, “In the meantime the convening of the meeting on 3-12-2007 by defendants is stayed and the defendants are also restrained from placing or causing any hindrance in the elections of the plaintiff.”

It may be mentioned here that Pervez has been a candidate for the post of POA’s secretary. The elections are scheduled to be held in Jan next year. The POA has summoned the meeting on Dec 3 to make amendments in some of its constitution’s clauses related to the election procedure.
