KARACHI: SHCBA polls tomorrow

KARACHI, Nov 29: The Sindh High Court Bar Association goes to the polls on Saturday to elect its office-bearers for 2008.

There are straight contests for the offices of president and secretary with Rasheed A. Razvi and Mrs Ismat Mehdi vying for the former and Faheem Riazuddin Siddiqui and incumbent Munirur Rehman for the latter.

Syed Naqi Meerza, Z. K. Jatoi and Zubair Ahmed are contesting for the post of vice-president and Kazi Abdul Hameed Siddiqui and Ms Tayyaba Jabeen for that of joint secretary. Sarwar Mohammad Khan has been elected treasurer unopposed.

Sixteen candidates are in the field for the nine-member managing committee. They are: Adnan Ahmed, Ameeruddin Mayo, Azizuddin Qureshi, Daniel Bakhsh, Izhar Alam Farooqui, Khalid Hameed, Mrs Khalida Khatoon, Majid Noman Khan, Manzoor Ahmed, Merajuddin Ensari, Mohammad Aslam Chawdhry, Muhammad Ikram Siddiqui, Muhammad Safdar, Mumtaz Ali Khan Deshmukh, Shafaat Hussain and Mrs Zahida Khatoon Naqvi.
