Cane grower killed on road

OKARA, March 28: A cane grower was killed by a tractor-trolley in front of Baba Farid sugar mills, Okara-Faisalabad Road, on Thursday.

Reports said Jaffar Husain went to the mills to unload cane. He parked the vehicle along the road and was crossing it when the rashly-driven tractor-trolley (FDD-4408) knocked him down.

He was taken to the Okara District Headquarters Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

BOOKED: A man was booked by local police for having a fake currency note in Deepalpur on Thursday.

According to details, Muhammad Rafiq of Wasawewala went to Muhammad Ismail’s cigarette shop on the Nishtar Road and asked for the change of a Rs1,000 note.

Having doubt, Ismail got the note checked by a bank officer who confirmed the note was fake.

The shopkeeper got a case registered against the man. —Correspondent
