MARDAN, Nov 22: Ten video-shops were destroyed and four banks and some stores were damaged when a bomb went off in a high security area of the Punjab Regiment Centre here on Thursday morning.

Officials said the blast took place in the PRC market at around 5.35am.

Branches of the Union Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, Bank of Khyber and Askari Bank, and some shops were damaged.

They said saboteurs had planted the explosive device near the pillar of a video-shop in the market when the watchman had gone for morning prayers.
