LAHORE, Nov 22: A meeting of the office-bearers of the All Pakistan Akhbar Farosh Federation has decided to abide by its agreement with the All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) on the number of holidays.

Although reservations were expressed regarding certain clauses in the agreement, the federation plans to convey the point of view and sentiments of the hawkers to the APNS executive committee after December 25.

The federation also appealed to the government to lift curbs on the media.

The meeting held at the office of the Akhbar Farosh Union expressed confidence in the leadership of the All Pakistan Akhbar Farosh Federation and extended its support.

The meeting was attended by Lahore union president and senior vice-president of the federation Chaudhry Nazir Ahmed, secretary-general Tikka Khan, senior joint-secretary Sheikh Umar Din, secretary information Nazir Baghi, Multan union president Haji Fateh Mohammad, Gujranwala union president Manzoor Ahmed Bhatti, member federation Zafarullah Niazi, Sialkot union president Abdul Kareem Chaudhry, Sialkot union chairman Rana Mushtaq, Gujrat union president Shahzad, Gujrat union general-secretary Hafiz Siddique, Faisalabad union general-secretary Rana Shakeel, senior members of the Akhbar Farosh Gujranwala Mohammad Ashraf and Hamid Hussain Shah, Lahore union vice-president Yaqoob-ul-Hassan, Lahore union general-secretary Yaseen Babar, Lahore union secretary finance Malik Tanvir Ahmed, Lahore union secretary information Liaqat Akbar, Dawn Group news agent Sultan Mohammad Tanoli, Jang Group news agents Haji Mohammad Rafi Lone and Zulfiqar Ahmed Lone, Khabrain Group news agents Mohammad Rafiq Mughal and Chaudhry Nisar Ahmed, Nawa-e-Waqt Group news agent Malik Mohammad Ishfaque, chief news agent of Express Chaudhry Ashiq Ali, senior Akhbar Farosh of Lahore and former senior vice-president of the federation Manzoor Ahmed Chohan, Ausaf news agent Syed Arif Hussain Shah, Waqt news agents Sheikh Mohammad Azhar Rafiq and Jamil Ahmed Chandpuri and senior members of the Akhbar Farosh Union, Sheikh Riaz Mubaraik, Nazir Ahmed Rathore and Sheikh Saghir.
