HYDERABAD, Nov 19: Tw-elve political leaders, including Sindh Tarraqi Pasand Party (STP) chairman Dr Qadir Magsi, who were detained under Maintenance of Public Order, were released late on Monday from the central prison.

Afzal Gujjar of PML-N, Abdul Waheed Qureshi of Jamaat-i-Islami, Dr Ramu, Meenhon Bajeer and seven others were released.

Their release seemed to be followed by the directives of the caretaker chief minister that all the political detainees should be released before election schedule announced.

Police had picked up these leaders after imposition of emergency in the country and detained for 90 days under MPO.

So far 55 people including two office-bearers of High Court Bar Association and Hyderabad District Bar Association had been released from jail.

Barring these 12 political leaders, the others have filed a bond before the home department, undertaking not to indulge in illegal government activities or agitation.

KILLED: A woman was murdered while her son received bullet injuries in Mujahid colony within the jurisdiction of A-Section police station in Latifabad on Tuesday.
