Candyland win bridge event

KARACHI, Nov 19: Candyland clinched the Swiss Movement bridge championship by accumulating 109 victory points (VPs) at the Aslam Memorial Hall on Sunday. The winners with Mohammad Ismail, Zaiullah Baig, Hasan Askri, Hamed Mohiuddin and Ashraf Pervaiz in their fold defeated Rais-IV 17-13, Aces 21-9, Abedies and Solox with identical margins of 25-5 and Data Steel 21-9.

Abedies having the services of Asghar Naqvi, A.K. Bhurgri, Jawwad Abedi and Iqbal Abedi collected 84 VPs to grab the second position.

Data Steel comprising Tariq Rasheed Khan, Pervez Mirza, Shakeel Chandna and Ghaffar Qureshi scored 83 VPs to secure third place.

In the pairs’ event, Taqi Raza and Mushahid Siddiqui with 64.45 per cent score claimed the top position.

Asghar Naqvi-Ghaffar Qureshi (61.14 per cent) and Irfan-Tanvir (54.55 per cent) won second and third places respectively.—Agencies
