PESHAWAR, Nov 19: A student organisation has urged the vice-chancellor of the University of Peshawar to exempt applicants from the troubled Kurram Agency, who had applied for admission to postgraduate courses, from personally appearing in interviews.

A press release issued by the local chapter of the Imamia Student Organisation said the applicants could not come to Peshawar after the closure of all roads between Peshawar and the tribal agency because of sectarian violence there, adding that they could lose the chance to get admission to the university.

The interviews for admission to Masters’ degree courses are set to be conducted on Nov 26 at the university.

The student organisation feared that many candidates from the Kurram Agency might not turn up for the interview because of the continuing violence.
