HYDERABAD, Nov 18: Sindh Taraqqi Pasand Party’s spokesman Muzaffar Kalhoro on Sunday condemned appointments on the basis of ‘political quota’.

He said in a statement that all appointments had been given on the recommendation of MQM, PML-Q and bureaucracy.

The STP spokesman said that it was a violation of the rights of the educated Sindhi youths and the Constitution.

He claimed that 60 per cent of the jobs were given to MQM, 30 per cent to PML-Q and 10 per cent to bureaucracy.He demanded that all such appointment should be cancelled.

Meanwhile, People’s Labour Bureau Pakistan’s Sindh chapter’s organising secretary Comrade Ghulam Rasool Memon said that thousands of candidates had passed the written tests and interviews for appointment as primary teachers but none of them had been appointed.

In a press statement, he said that the posts were advertised in newspapers and the candidates had purchased forms at a price of Rs100 each while the government had collected tens of millions of rupees but the appointments were given only to a chosen few.He alleged that the EDO Education Hyderabad had issued 350 appointment orders for primary school teachers in violation of merit list compiled by the IBA Sukkur.

He said those candidates who had scored 70 to 80 per cent marks according to the IBA list, had not given appointment letters.

Memon said that the appointments had been made on the basis of the list prepared by the Sindh education secretary on the orders of the Sindh chief minister.

He said the poor people have lost confidence in the government as even position holders were not being considered for appointment.

PROTEST: A large number of journalists under the banner of Hyderabad Press Club and Hyderabad Union of Journalists on Sunday staged a protest demonstration and observed token hunger strike within the premises of the club against the ban on Geo TV and ARY TV channels.
